On April 20, 2021, a truly significant event took place within the walls of the Astoria 5* Hotel. The premiere show of the unique 100-cart diamond The Spectacle took place in St. Petersburg, after which it went on a world tour to be presented at the Christie's international auction. The Spectacle diamond was cut from a rare 207.29 carat diamond mined in 2016 at the legendary Zarnitsa mine in northeast Russia, in the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia), the first bedrock diamond deposit (or first kimberlite pipe) discovered on the territory of the USSR in 1954. In the Ballroom of the Astoria Hotel, a film was shown about all the stages of creating a work of jewelry art, from the search for a diamond to the final cutting of the product. In the Winter Garden hall of the Astoria Hotel, guests saw a real performance dedicated to the theatrical and jewelry art of Russian masters. This Spectacle diamond follows the path of maestro Diaghilev and his "Russian Seasons" at the beginning of the 20th century. Through the art of opera and ballet, Diaghilev told Europe and America about Russian culture with its national traditions and the latest avant-garde moods. More than 60 artists participated in the project, including Ivan Ozhogin, opera diva Natalia Gerasimova, ballet soloists of the Moscow Academic Musical Theatre. Stanislavsky and Nemirovich-Danchenko, who performed in Lausanne, New York, Berlin, participants in the Stars of the White Nights and Mariinsky festivals, artists from drama theaters in St. Petersburg. The musical arrangement of the evening was also the Memory Symphony Orchestra, whose members are laureates of various international competitions and performed with the stars of the world classical scene such as Jose Carreras, Sarah Brightman, Nigel Kennedy, Andrea Bocelli. Fragments from the ballet "La Sylphide" to the music of Frederic Chopin, a fragment of the ballet "Jewels" by George Balanchine, "The Dying Swan" to the music of Camille Saint-Saens were performed. Opera soloists performed parts from A. Borodin's opera "Prince Igor", "Flower Duet" from the opera "Lakme" by Leo Delibes, Laura's aria from the movie "Perfumer", Mister X's aria from the musical "Phantom of the Opera" and the duet "Con te partiro."
